Below are some of our most frequently asked questions
Who are we?
www.carsboughtforcash.com is part of the Forbes Motor Company group Ltd
We are based in North yorkshire and our office address is in the contact section of the homepage.
What happens if I don't enter full details of my car's condition?
We value cars based on the details you provide us. We work on the basis that the information you give is honest and trustworthy so we can obtain the best value for your car. We cross check all cars upon viewing so that we can confirm that the information given was accurate.
If your online appraisal does not match our appraisal of the car on viewing, we may adjust the valuation.
My car is a non runner, will you still buy it?
Do you buy cars with Private Registration Plates?
Yes, unless you want to keep it in which case the private number plate would have to be placed on retention potentially delaying the process.
We advise that if you are considering selling your car and want to keep the plate, aquire a V778/1 Document from any post office and fill in the form and send it off to DVLA, Swansea. This process usually takes up to a week.
Once you’ve reassigned your personalised registration and received your replacement V5 registration document (log book), we’ll be happy to buy your car!
What do I need to bring with me if I choose to sell my car?
It’s important that we establish that the person selling the vehicle is actually the owner, therefore we require the following details:
-
Two forms of identification; such as utility bill, passport, driving licence etc
-
Both sets of car keys if available
-
All service history and MOT certificates if available
-
Bank details and V5 logbook/registration certificate (if the V5 logbook/registration certificate is still in the owner’s maiden name, you will need to bring a copy of your marriage certificate)
-
If you are selling on behalf of a relative or friend then we require a letter of authorisation from the owner. The bank details must match the same name as the registered keeper on the V5 logbook/registration certificate
-
If the vehicle has any finance outstanding we will require a letter with the settlement figure from the finance company
What if i do not have a V5 registration document!
Unfortunately without this document we will NOT be able to purchase the car!
If you do not have one you can obtain a new document by filling in form V62 which you can download from the DVLA or pick up from any Post Office. The completed form and appropriate fee should be sent to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1AR. It normally takes 3 to 4 weeks to obtain a new V5.
What if the V5 registration document is not in my name?
The V5 (log book) holds the details of the registered keeper of the vehicle. To prevent fraud, we will only purchase a vehicle from you if it is your name on the V5. If you wish to sell your car and there is a legitimate reason why you are not the registered keeper, then please email us at info@carsboughtforcash.com and we will help you.
What if my car is an import?
We will still buy your car if it is an import but we will have to manually value the car.
How will I get paid?
We use the most secure method possible – electronic bank transfer. We'll arrange payment direct to your bank account which takes 3 to 4 working days. There is no charge for this service and it protects you from the risk of carrying around large sums of cash or losing a cheque.
If you need your money more quickly, we offer a premium fast payment service for a small charge. When you choose our fast payment service, the payment will be made directly to your bank account and will be available to spend on the next working day. This will incur a small handling charge if you wish to have the funds available on the same day. (this excludes bank holidays and weekends)
How can I be sure that I will receive payment?
Once we have valued your car you keep the keys, log book and documentation until the money has hit your account. Only when you see the money hit your account do you have to release the car.
I cannot find my car on the website?
We buy almost all makes and models, however, there are some restrictions on age and mileage, and also certain models. Whilst we constantly strive to increase the range of cars within our portfolio, if your car is not on the website please call 01642 701177 and we can take details of exactly what it is and endeavour to place a valuation on it.
What happens if I miss describe the car?
Our valuation is based on the accurate description that you will provide. If there are aspects or parts of the car that have been damaged and not brought to our attention we reserve the right to decline the purchase of the car or adjust the value accordingly to compensate re conditioning costs.
Will you charge to collect my car?
No. Absolutely NOT. (Unlike some)
We have never charged a sellers fee and NEVER will.
We will collect your car from you anywhere in the UK for FREE.
Why can't I have cash for my car?
Although the website is called carsboughtforcash, It is simply not practical to carry large quantities of cash. From a security aspect we would not expect our collection drivers to drive around with thousands of pounds. The term ‘CASH’ from this standpoint is determined as cleared funds into your bank account.
